Pros & Cons

Pros

Premium Construction: High quality metal body and frame, very durable and with an excellent classic feel. Ultra compact and lightweight: At only 130g, it is ideal for traveling or to always carry in your backpack without taking up space. Snap Focus Mechanism: The sliding focus ring is great for street photography and fast manual focusing. Bright Aperture (f/2.0): Excellent for interiors, night photography and basic astrophotography. MSC Focus: The autofocus system is practically instantaneous and totally silent, ideal for video. Image Quality: Very sharp in the center, even from its maximum aperture.

Cons

Original Price: Its official price is usually high compared to other fixed lenses in the line (although offers like the one you saw make it much more attractive). No Weather Sealing: Unlike the "PRO" line, this lens is not dust or splash resistant. Vignetting and Distortion: There is some vignetting and chromatic distortion in the corners, although modern cameras correct this automatically by software. Separate Accessories: Traditionally, Olympus does not include the lens hood (LH-48) or metal cap in the box, and they are usually expensive accessories if purchased separately. Internal Competition: The 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens is more versatile (although larger), and the Panasonic Leica 12mm f/1.4 is brighter (although much more expensive).
