Summary

The Tamron 35-100mm f/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A078) is a ground-breaking standard-to-telephoto zoom lens designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Combining a versatile focal range with a bright f/2.8 constant aperture, it manages to maintain an incredibly compact profile, weighing just 565 grams. This makes it an ideal alternative for photographers who find traditional 70-200mm zooms too bulky but need more reach than a standard 24-70mm.

Optically, the lens is constructed with 15 elements in 13 groups, featuring specialized glass elements to minimize aberrations and ensure high-resolution performance across the zoom range. A key technical advantage is the internal zoom mechanism, which prevents the barrel from extending during operation, improving balance on gimbals and enhancing weather resistance. The lens is powered by Tamron's VXD linear motor, ensuring fast, silent, and highly precise autofocus for both stills and video.

In practical use, the 35-100mm focal range proves highly effective for events, street photography, and environmental portraits. Its close-focusing capabilities (0.22m at the wide end) allow for creative macro-style shots, while the fast f/2.8 aperture provides excellent subject separation and low-light performance. Whether you are a travel photographer looking to minimize weight or a video creator needing a stable zoom, this lens offers a unique and high-performance solution.
