The Caimera CAIM 1 (CAIM1) is a video camera still at prototype stage that proposes an unusual idea: signing footage at the very moment of capture. Built by Caimera, it pairs a native E-mount with a Micro Four Thirds sensor, a 4.3-inch touchscreen and a TROPIC01 secure element from Tropic Square that encrypts the recordings from the moment you press record, so every file leaves the body with a verifiable credential.
The technical approach revolves around proof of origin. Every clip is sealed in hardware and anchored on decentralized infrastructure so that anyone can later confirm it came from that camera and not from a synthetic content generator; optionally the camera prints a physical receipt with an access code to the wallet holding the proof, which takes verification off the desktop. To sustain encryption alongside 4K recording, the body relies on Noctua active cooling behind the mount, with an airflow path designed to avoid vibration and noise, and a chassis made from Prusament materials; it also offers a Micro Four Thirds mount option for reusing existing glass.
Aimed at documentary, journalism, institutional archives, weddings and commercial commissions where proving authenticity matters, the idea points to a capture routine in which verification happens by itself. Its path to market is not settled yet: no price has been published, a first production batch is planned as a goal for the first quarter of 2027, and the question of whether Sony will allow the E-mount on another maker's body remains open.
