Summary

The Fujinon XF400mm is shaping up as a fixed-focal-length telephoto lens for the Fujifilm X system. Preliminary information points to a 400mm focal length for distant subjects and tightly composed frames. The maximum aperture and final design have not been officially confirmed.

A 400mm focal length can concentrate perspective, separate a subject from its surroundings, and preserve working distance. The final result will depend on brightness, autofocus, optical stabilization, sealing, optical performance, and accessory compatibility. Those characteristics are not confirmed yet.

By concept, an XF400mm would suit wildlife, bird, sports, and action photography from distant positions. It could also isolate landscape details or compress distant planes. Aperture, weight, dimensions, minimum focus distance, controls, price, announcement date, and release year remain pending.
