Summary

The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ is a Nikon Z mount zoom lens with full-frame coverage, a 28-135mm focal range and a constant f/4 aperture. Its technical profile includes 18 elements in 13 groups, a 9-blade diaphragm, a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.25x, autofocus, internal focusing and a 95mm filter thread. It is also clearly a substantial lens physically, with an approximate diameter of 105mm, an overall length of about 177.5mm and a listed weight of 1120 g.

That combination of focal range, constant aperture and full-frame coverage gives it a very flexible working profile for hybrid production. It starts at a moderately wide angle that can cover context, interiors and broader scene-setting frames, then reaches into short telephoto territory for tighter compositions, better subject separation and more controlled interview, portrait or detail work without changing lenses. A constant f/4 aperture is especially useful when the goal is to keep exposure behavior predictable while zooming, which can matter as much as raw sharpness when the pace of shooting is fast and the framing changes often.

In practical use, this range makes sense for documentary, events, weddings, travel assignments and general-purpose production where one primary lens needs to cover a lot of ground. It should also appeal to creators who value a serious workhorse over extreme compactness, because its dimensions suggest a tool built around capability rather than discretion. The minimum focusing distance that drops to roughly 0.34 m through part of the range, together with the 0.25x maximum magnification, adds another layer of usefulness for cutaways, product details, hands, objects and small scene work without leaving the same lens.
