Summary

The Schneider Kreuznach x LK Samyang 60-180mm f/2.8 for Leica L is now backed by a dedicated official L-Mount product page. It is a full-frame telephoto zoom built around a practical 60-180mm range and a constant f/2.8 aperture, giving portrait, event, stage and moderate action photographers a fast working lens without the typical mass of a conventional 70-200mm f/2.8. The L version follows the compact zoom-series philosophy with an officially stated 728g weight, making portability a central part of its appeal rather than a secondary convenience.

The technical package combines a 17-element, 14-group optical design with HR, ED and aspherical elements, UMC coating, a 9-blade diaphragm and autofocus driven by a Linear STM motor. There is no optical image stabilization in the lens, so stabilized L-Mount bodies remain important for slower shutter speeds, but the feature set is otherwise work-oriented: weather sealing, an AF/MF switch, a corroborated focus-hold or programmable button and USB-C firmware updating support. Close-up capability is also stronger than many users might expect from a telephoto zoom, with 0.35m minimum focus at the wide end and up to 0.26x magnification.

In practical terms, this lens is for L-Mount shooters who want a lighter way to cover portraits, weddings, events, travel assignments and selected video work with one bright telephoto zoom. Starting at 60mm makes it more flexible indoors or for environmental portraiture than a stricter 70-200mm, while 180mm still offers enough reach and compression for subject isolation. With confirmed retailer pricing at USD 1,199, it sits as a competitive alternative to heavier L-Mount workhorse zooms, especially for photographers who value long shooting days, compact kits and a consistent f/2.8 look.
