Summary

The Sirui Swift AF 40mm f/2.2 has surfaced through recent retail dealer listings as an unconfirmed rumor without any official announcement or formal presentation by Sirui. Preliminary leaks indicate that this compact normal prime lens belongs to the brand new lightweight Swift family, engineered to cover full-frame image sensors across Sony E, Nikon Z, Leica L, and Fujifilm X mounts. Featuring an estimated mass of approximately 210 grams, an outer barrel diameter of 62mm, and an overall length of 69.4mm, the lens is tailored for photographers prioritizing everyday portability alongside a standardized 58mm front filter thread.

If confirmed by future official technical documentation, the Sirui Swift AF 40mm f/2.2 incorporates an optical formula of 11 elements arranged in 8 groups, utilizing a 9-blade circular diaphragm that closes down to f/16. Autofocus operation is powered by an STM stepping motor mechanism, providing a close focusing distance of 400mm and a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.14x. Externally, leaked specifications detail an extensive array of physical controls unusual in budget optics, including an onboard aperture ring, an AF/MF hardware toggle, an assignable Fn function button, and weather-resistant sealing complemented by a stain-resistant front element coating.

Should it reach commercial fruition following an official release, the Sirui Swift AF 40mm f/2.2 would represent an appealing option for street photography, environmental portraiture, candid snapshots, and everyday walkaround use. The versatile 40mm focal length provides a natural perspective between wide and standard perspectives, while tactile hardware controls elevate handling on compact mirrorless camera bodies. However, because all known specifications are derived from preliminary leak material with unannounced pricing and scheduling, every technical attribute remains subject to official verification by the manufacturer.
