Summary

The Viltrox AF 25mm f/1.7 Air is a versatile, fast, and remarkably lightweight standard prime lens engineered for APS-C mirrorless cameras across Fujifilm X, Sony E, and Nikon Z mounts. Produced by Viltrox as part of its ultra-portable Air series, it weighs just 170 grams and provides a 35mm full-frame equivalent focal length of approximately 37.5mm, delivering a classic moderate wide-to-standard perspective ideal for documentary, street photography, environmental portraiture, and everyday storytelling.

Its optical configuration features 12 elements in 10 groups, incorporating one Extra-low Dispersion (ED) element, two High Refractive Index (HR) elements, and two high-precision aspherical glass elements. This advanced formula ensures high edge-to-edge sharpness and balanced contrast across the frame while effectively eliminating color fringing and optical aberrations. In addition, multi-layer nano coatings minimize flare and ghosting when shooting in challenging lighting scenarios.

Autofocus performance is powered by a quiet STM stepping motor with an internal focusing design that maintains a constant lens barrel length and delivers dependable eye/face tracking for both stills and video content creation. With a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters and a bright f/1.7 aperture, this lens excels in available-light environments, rendering smooth out-of-focus highlights and soft background separation.
