Simon Booth
Simon Booth is a professional landscape and nature photographer based in Lancashire, England. His philosophy is based on capturing the artistic essence of natural beauty, focusing his gaze on both panoramic views and what he calls "intimate landscapes." With a career spanning more than three decades, Simon seeks to establish a deep and authentic connection with the environment, using careful composition and ambient lighting to highlight details and textures of the natural world that often go unnoticed. On his YouTube channel, he documents his photographic expeditions and shares knowledge about technique, equipment, and the importance of conscious observation, under the premise of learning to "see" through the camera. Its technical excellence has been recognized in prestigious international competitions, receiving mentions and awards in the Nature Photographer of the Year 2025 and the British Wildlife Photography Awards. In addition, Simon is notable for the use of high-resolution medium format camera systems, such as Hasselblad and Pentax, to achieve exceptional quality in his works intended for fine art printing.

The Non-Negotiables That Make Macro and Intimate Landscape Photography So Much Better
Published: Feb 1, 2026 · Duration: 28 min 15 sec · 7.2K views
Close-up/Macro and intimate landscape photography often looks simple, but in practice it’s where small mistakes quickly add up. Stability, light control, precision, and how you trigger the shutter all matter far more than most people expect. In this video, I walk through the non-negotiables I rely on every time I’m photographing small scenes in nature.
Why I Still Return to the Same Places for Nature Photography
Published: Jan 18, 2026 · Duration: 24 min 9 sec · 6.6K views
Most of the time we believe better photographs are somewhere else. This film was made to test that assumption. It was one of my first trips out after Christmas, returning once again to a woodland I have photographed for years.
Seeing Macro Subjects that Others Walk Past
Published: Jan 4, 2026 · Duration: 18 min 45 sec · 14K views
Most people walk straight past these scenes without ever noticing them. This film is about learning to see what is already there. Small details underfoot, quiet moments, and subjects that only reveal themselves when you slow down and stop looking for something “better”.
A Photographic Feast of Winter Inspiration | Images That Defined My Year
Published: Dec 21, 2025 · Duration: 39 min 45 sec · 4.8K views
As the year comes to a close, this film is a quiet look back at the images that defined my photography in 2025. Rather than chasing locations or dramatic moments, each photograph here is about observation, restraint and recognising when a scene already contains enough. Leaves, water, sand, frost and flowers.
5 Top Tips to Create Images that Win Awards
Published: Dec 7, 2025 · Duration: 32 min 26 sec · 7.8K views
This week’s video goes inside the world of award-winning photography; what actually gets noticed, what quietly gets overlooked and what I’ve learned from having my own work judged over the years as a nature photographer. My recent Nature Photographer of the Year 2025 award for Fallen Beauty was the trigger for this film and it felt like the right moment to talk honestly about what these competitions really involve,…
Meditative Images from a Sacred Scottish Island | Nature Photography
Published: Nov 23, 2025 · Duration: 19 min 21 sec · 4.4K views
This new film continues my time on the island of Iona, filmed during the same late autumn trip. Whereas the first film explored the broader landscape, this one turns inward, towards the detail, the texture, and the quiet rhythm of the shoreline itself. Travelling from the hotel by bicycle, with all my equipment strapped to the frame, I made my way to a pebble strewn beach near Port Ban.
Midweek Edits - Intimate Landcapes | Fallen Beauty
Published: Nov 15, 2025 · Duration: 10 min 38 sec · 1.7K views
Welcome to Midweek Edits — a new series of shorter videos focused on the editing side of my photography. These episodes will appear during the week and are designed to complement, not replace, my regular weekend uploads. Think of them as quiet moments spent refining images and exploring the subtleties of post-processing.
A mix of photography styles from a sacred island in Scotland
Published: Nov 9, 2025 · Duration: 23 min 12 sec · 5.9K views
In this new film, I travel to the remote Scottish island of Iona, widely regarded as one of the most sacred islands in the world, reached by foot ferry from the Isle of Mull. With no cars allowed for visitors, I explored the island taking in its quiet beauty at the end of autumn. Over the course of several sessions at dawn and dusk, I made three very different images.
Easy Nature Photography with Simon Booth
Published: Oct 26, 2025 · Duration: 17 min 39 sec · 13K views
In this video, I’m setting myself a few creative limits by following a narrow wooded gorge — just a simple path tracing the river’s edge. There’s no chance to wander off or explore beyond it, but that’s all part of the challenge. It’s a great exercise in truly seeing what’s around you.
One walk, three beautiful discoveries | Nature Photography
Published: Oct 12, 2025 · Duration: 22 min 6 sec · 6.9K views
This week’s film unfolds at a gentle pace, beginning with a return to one of my favourite woodlands on a fog-filled morning. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I arrived, but the conditions turned out to be just what I’d hoped for, allowing me to revisit a scene I’d photographed earlier in the year and this time transformed by mist. From there, I moved on to explore a quieter corner of the woodland, where a…
Midweek edit - Birch pool
Published: Oct 1, 2025 · Duration: 8 min 32 sec · 1.2K views
In the stillness of a woodland ditch, two birch leaves drift side by side upon dark water. Their mottled skins, freckled with the marks of passing seasons, glow faintly against the shadowed pool. Tiny ripples cling to their edges, holding them afloat as if reluctant to let go.
Out in nature creating images with my Old Friend
Published: Sep 28, 2025 · Duration: 21 min 20 sec · 6.1K views
In this video I return for a peaceful day out with an old friend. A friend I didn't expect top see quite so soon if i'm honest. But here I am shooting side by side with one of my greatest inspirations.
Midweek edit | Silent Companions
Published: Sep 17, 2025 · Duration: 10 min 17 sec · 1.2K views
Beneath a canopy of moss and fallen leaves, two stout mushrooms rise like quiet sentinels. Their pale caps catch the muted woodland light, while speckled stems root them firmly in the damp earth. There is a sense of companionship here—an unspoken bond shaped by time and shelter.
Creative Freedom | Nature Photography
Published: Sep 14, 2025 · Duration: 17 min 23 sec · 9K views
In this week’s video, I change things up as the first hints of autumn begin to arrive. Instead of my usual tutorial approach, I gave myself the freedom to simply wander, observe, and photograph. No pressure, just pure creativity.

In this video, I put OM SYSTEM’s new ‘Pocket Rocket’—the M.ZUIKO 50-200mm f/2.8 IS PRO lens through its paces. Over three dawn visits to my local nature reserve, a small wetland with plenty of quiet corners to watch from, I wait to see what the first light of day might bring. Each morning offers its own rewards, and by the end I’ve come away with three wildlife images I’m really pleased with, along with a bonus…
Midweek Edit | Threads of Decay
Published: Aug 27, 2025 · Duration: 13 min 18 sec · 1.1K views
On the woodland floor, a fallen mushroom slowly breaks down, its dark cap wrapped in a web of white threads. Around it, fresh green moss spreads, showing how life and decay are always connected. What fades away here becomes part of the forest’s renewal.
Out 'n' About with Micro four thirds
Published: Aug 24, 2025 · Duration: 17 min 7 sec · 5.4K views
This is my second time out in the field with the OM System OM-1 Mark II, a micro four thirds camera that offers a very different experience to the larger systems I usually work with. Rather than getting caught up in technical comparisons, I use the camera as a tool to explore the woodland — noticing textures, details and quiet moments that might otherwise pass by. Watch through to the end to see the gallery of…

Welcome to my Midweek Edit — a new series of shorter videos focused on the editing side of my photography.
