Canon EOS C400

Introduced in June 2024, the Canon EOS C400 is an advanced full-frame cinema camera that establishes a groundbreaking benchmark for production flexibility within the Cinema EOS family from Canon. Engineered to seamlessly bridge the demands of high-end cinematic narrative, live multicamera broadcast, and virtual production, the Canon EOS C400 incorporates a native RF lens mount within a modular, lightweight body designed for effortless transitions between shoulder rigs, gimbals, and studio setups.

At the technological foundation of the Canon EOS C400 is a newly developed 6K full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor delivering up to 16 stops of dynamic range, featuring an advanced Triple-Base ISO architecture (800, 3200, and 12,800 in Canon Log 2 and Cinema RAW Light) for pristine signal-to-noise performance. Driven by the flagship DIGIC DV 7 image processor, the camera records internal 12-bit Cinema RAW Light up to 6K at 60p, high-frame-rate 4K up to 120p, and 2K up to 180p in 10-bit 4:2:2 XF-AVC, XF-AVC S, and XF-HEVC S. This imaging powerhouse is paired with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II providing expansive sensor coverage and deep-learning tracking, alongside a motorized internal ND filter system offering up to 10 stops of exposure control.

Tailored for high-end studio integration and cutting-edge live environments, the Canon EOS C400 boasts a comprehensive terminal suite including dedicated 12G-SDI and 3G-SDI outputs, genlock/sync, timecode BNC, standard XLR audio inputs, Gigabit Ethernet for IP control via Canon XC Protocol, and real-time lens metadata output for virtual studio tracking. Featuring a primary CFexpress Type B slot for high-bitrate recording alongside an SD UHS-II slot for instant proxy capture, the Canon EOS C400 stands as an indispensable production instrument that delivers uncompromised optical quality and robust operational versatility.
