The Ricoh GR IV Monochrome is a premium pocket compact camera engineered exclusively for dedicated black-and-white photography, developed by Ricoh for street and documentary purists. At its heart lies a specialized 25.7-megapixel APS-C monochrome CMOS sensor that entirely omits the color filter array (CFA), capturing pure luminance directly for exceptional optical resolution, micro-contrast, and smooth tonal gradations. It is paired with a redesigned fixed 18.3mm f/2.8 lens (equivalent to 28mm in full-frame format), engineered with premium glass elements to deliver edge-to-edge sharpness and minimal optical aberrations.
Powering the Ricoh GR IV Monochrome is the GR ENGINE 7 image processor tailored for nuanced monochrome rendering, supported by a 5-axis sensor-shift Shake Reduction (SR) system offering up to 5 stops of stabilization. Bypassing the color filter array significantly enhances light efficiency, expanding the sensitivity range up to ISO 409,600 with clean, film-like grain. In addition, the Ricoh GR IV Monochrome features 53GB of high-speed internal memory, responsive hybrid autofocus combining phase-detection and contrast-detection points, and the signature Snap Focus mode for instant zone focusing.
Designed for discreet one-handed operation, the Ricoh GR IV Monochrome retains an ultra-compact, lightweight magnesium alloy body weighing only 262 grams. It is equipped with a 3.0-inch touchscreen LCD, built-in monochrome contrast simulation filters (red, yellow, orange), and wireless Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for streamlined image management. With its uncompromised optical design, the Ricoh GR IV Monochrome sets a benchmark for monochrome street photography and creative daily documentation.
