Photography in Uruguay is a constant dialogue with the stillness of our mountains. Capturing that relief of stone and horizon is not only about searching for the perfect frame, but about honoring the roots and pulse of the land we inhabit. Parque Hotel, O la sede Mercosur

In my opinion, one of the most notable buildings in my neighborhood is the emblematic Parque Rodó building, in Montevideo. Today, it is the headquarters of Mercosur, but in its beginnings it was a renowned hotel that received many celebrities. At that time, this area of Montevideo was nothing more than a spa or a coastal area much less populated than it is today. As I call it: The King of Parque Rodó, this majestic building witnesses the passage of time and the changes in our society. Seeing it standing, imposing and full of history, fills me with pride and nostalgia. Here's to many more years of stories and memories shared under your protective shadow!

Las Sierras de Carapé, Maldonado

An imposing valley formation stands out in Maldonado, Uruguay. These are the Sierras de Carapé, which represent the highest point in the country. Its continuous hills are witnesses of the unparalleled beauty of this rural area. Despite being a private area, it is possible to enjoy its splendor from its paths, or by requesting permission from a rural producer to walk through its immensity. Every hill, every valley, seems to whisper ancient stories of the land. This wonderful place is a hidden treasure that invites us to connect with nature and marvel at the serenity that only these landscapes can offer.

One of the most notable attractions of Canelones, Uruguay, is a series of dams that serve various purposes. This photo was taken in the vicinity of one of them, and you can see how a kind of small islands with lush vegetation are being created. This place is ideal for rest, relaxation and bird watching. That wonderful green forage only beautifies the landscape, creating a serene and rejuvenating environment. Every corner invites you to get lost in the tranquility and reconnect with nature.

La rambla de Montevideo y sus vistas

Walking along the Montevideo promenade is a way to recharge energy, fill ourselves with will and purpose to carry out our goals. Walking, thinking and breathing are fundamental parts of our internal cycles. If we can also see landscapes as beautiful as these with our own eyes, the experience becomes a gift for the soul. The sea breeze, the sound of the waves and the view of the horizon invite us to reflect and find inner peace. The promenade offers us not only a physical space to walk, but also an emotional refuge where we can renew our strength and face everyday life with a new perspective.

Las costas de San Jose, Uruguay

If we travel from Montevideo to Colonia, on the way we pass through the department of San José, specifically its charming coasts. This photo was taken in Kiyú, a holiday resort that has a charming vintage or retro feel that I like so much. On this occasion, the mouth of a stream in the Río de la Plata formed an interesting waterfall, adorned by splendid sand dunes. This landscape is not only visually stunning, but also evokes a feeling of tranquility and nostalgia. Kiyú, with its natural beauty and unique atmosphere, invites us to stop for a moment, enjoy the present and let ourselves be carried away by the magic of the environment.

Dando los primeros pasos

A mother and her little daughter are the protagonists of this snapshot, creating an interesting contrast with the background where a cargo ship is seen arriving at the port of Montevideo. This photo was difficult to achieve due to the focus stacking technique used. However, I think the end result speaks for itself. This image conveys many things to me: the warmth of the bond between mother and daughter, the immensity and movement of the port, and the fusion of the human with the industrial in a single frame. It is a scene that captures the tenderness of an intimate moment amidst the reality of the commercial movement behind, in the vicinity of the port, reminding us of the beauty of the small moments in our lives.

En una cálida tarde

On a warm summer afternoon, a group of young people enjoy the coast, the pier and the sun, not caring much about the gaze of an adult nearby. Those moments are memorable, they are the ones that we will remember later as protagonists of old stages of our lives. I hope we can get lost again in the maelstrom of emotion, warmth and fraternity. It is in those moments of carefree joy that we find the true essence of youth, and it is through these memories that we keep the spark of those golden days alive.

What can I say about the wonderful view that our star offers us, especially when it mixes with the clouds and the sea? On this occasion, the wide-angle lens works in our favor, creating imposing shapes and lines that direct our eyes toward the center of this postcard. The combination of the sun, clouds and sea creates an incomparable natural spectacle, full of beauty and serenity. It is as if nature itself guides us to a point of focus, inviting us to contemplate the grandeur of the universe and appreciate the majesty of our surroundings. Every element in this scene seems to work in harmony to captivate us and give us a moment of wonder and reflection. It is in moments like these where we feel truly connected to the world around us and remember the importance of stopping and appreciating the beauty around us.
