Pros & Cons
Pros
- Legendary Sharpness: Exceptional optical performance that outperforms many prime lenses of its era.
- Professional L-Series Build: Dust and moisture sealing designed for intensive daily use.
- Lightning Fast USM: Extremely quick, silent, and accurate autofocus system.
- Excellent Contrast: Superb color reproduction thanks to Super Spectra coatings.
Cons
- No Image Stabilization (IS): Unlike its modern RF counterpart, it lacks built-in optical stabilization.
- Discontinued Product: Canon officially ended production in 2026, impacting long-term availability.
- External Zoom Design: The barrel physically extends, which can be prone to collecting dust over many years.
