Update Leica Firmware v4.0.0: Technical improvements for SL3 and Q3 Series
- Leica has released version 4.0.0 of its firmware, mainly focused on the optimization of the focusing system and the unification of the user interface. Below is the technical breakdown of the improvements by system:
Leica SL System (SL3 and SL3-S)
- Hybrid AF Optimization: Improvement in reaction speed and detection algorithm. The precision in tracking human and animal subjects has increased.
- Multishot Mode (SL3 Exclusive): Implementation of sensor shift capture to generate ultra-high resolution files of up to 240 megapixels.
- Frame.io Connectivity: Adobe "Camera to Cloud" integration. Allows direct upload of files to the cloud via Wi-Fi or mobile data for immediate post-production.
- General Performance: Reduction of operating system response times and improvement in the management of internal processes.
Leica Q3 Family (Q3, Q3 43 and Q3 Monochrom)
- Interface Redesign (GUI): The menu and icon structure of the SL3 has been migrated. The goal is to unify the user experience between fixed lens systems and interchangeable lens systems.
- Tactical Navigation: Improvement in the sensitivity and response of the touch screen, optimizing access to functions through gestures.
- Management of Leica Looks: The configuration and assignment of preset image profiles (Looks) has been simplified for faster access during shooting.

Installation method
- Leica PHOTOS App: Direct update via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection from a mobile device.
- SD Card: Manual download of the .upd file from the Leica download center, insert into slot 1 and execute from the Main Menu > Camera Information > Firmware menu.
