Panasonic Lumix G9 II

The Panasonic Lumix G9 II (G9II) is a Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera that marks a generational leap over the original G9. Built around a 25.2 MP Live MOS sensor and a new image engine, Panasonic's flagship adds phase-detection autofocus to the G series for the first time, combined with AI-assisted subject recognition, inside a sealed and comparatively compact body.

On the technical side, the body provides 5-axis stabilisation rated to 8 stops, bursts of 60 fps in AFC with the electronic shutter and 14 fps with the mechanical one, and a 779-point autofocus array that keeps tracking birds, animals, cars or people with a blackout-free viewfinder. For video it captures 5.8K in 4:3, 5.7K in 17:9 and 10-bit C4K/4K up to 120p, plus 240p Full HD and ProRes, with dual UHS-II SD slots, a 1.84-million-dot free-angle touchscreen and a 3.68-million-dot OLED viewfinder.

Its practical value shows up in wildlife, sport, action and hybrid production, where the fast burst and subject-detection autofocus solve difficult scenes without carrying a full-frame body. It also works as a second video camera thanks to 10-bit capture and strong stabilisation, and the Micro Four Thirds format keeps a kit light on long trips. At 658 g, with a battery rated for roughly 370 shots and dust-and-splash sealing, it is built to be used outdoors without much care.
