The Panasonic Lumix S1R II (S1RII) is Panasonic's high-resolution mirrorless body for the L-Mount system: a full-frame camera built around a 44.3 MP BSI CMOS sensor and an image engine with L2 Technology. It adds 5-axis stabilisation rated to 8 stops, dust-and-splash sealing, and it is the first LUMIX able to record 8K at 30p with 14 stops of dynamic range.
For stills it offers 40 fps bursts with the electronic shutter and around 10 fps with the mechanical one, plus a 177 MP high-resolution mode that works handheld. Phase Hybrid autofocus with AI-assisted tracking recognises eyes and faces and holds the subject in demanding scenes; the 5.76-million-dot OLED viewfinder and the 3.0-inch tilt free-angle touchscreen suit both studio and outdoor work. It records to CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II, weighs 795 g and its battery is rated for around 340 CIPA shots.
Its natural ground is landscape, architecture, still life, fashion and commercial photography that needs detail for large prints or hard crops, with the advantage of a comparatively light body for the resolution it delivers. In video it stands as a serious hybrid: 8K 30p, 6.4K Open Gate —with 8.1K and 7.2K promised through firmware—, 5.8K ProRes RAW HQ recorded internally and 4K at 120p, with stabilisation and sealing as allies for working without a tripod.
