Summary

The Sirui Aurora AF 15mm f/1.6 FF is an ultra wide-angle prime lens designed for full-frame mirrorless camera systems that is currently circulating across photographic communities strictly as an unconfirmed leak and industry rumor, without any official announcement or formal verification from Sirui. Preliminary reports indicate that the optics manufacturer may be planning to broaden its premium Aurora series with a fast ultra-wide prime aimed at creators using Sony E and Leica L mount camera bodies. Because no corporate statement, production schedule, or technical specification sheet has been released to date, all circulating details regarding this optic remain completely tentative and subject to change until formal disclosure occurs.

Should the early technical claims prove accurate upon an official debut, the Sirui Aurora AF 15mm f/1.6 FF would combine an expansive 15mm focal length with a fast f/1.6 maximum aperture and a minimum aperture of f/16, providing photographers with tremendous control over shallow depth of field in ultra-wide compositions. Industry whispers suggest the inclusion of a responsive autofocus system powered by an STM stepping motor for smooth and quiet focusing, a 77mm front filter thread, physical aperture control with an iris lock mechanism, an AF/MF selector switch, a custom focus hold button, and weather-resistant gaskets, avoiding speculative assertions regarding the internal optical glass arrangement.

From an imaging and creative perspective, if officially confirmed and brought to production, the Sirui Aurora AF 15mm f/1.6 FF would represent a compelling solution for demanding photographic applications such as astrophotography, architectural documentation, low-light nightscapes, and expansive environmental landscape captures. The pairing of an extreme field of view with an ultra-bright f/1.6 gathering capacity would enable creators to capture clean imagery in adverse lighting scenarios while maintaining a gentle falloff and pleasing background separation, catering effectively to both stills photographers and independent videographers seeking tactile physical controls.
