With compatible Sony teleconverters it can reach up to 2.8x, turning it into a flexible native system lens for serious macro work rather than just a conventional short telephoto.

The specification is built around high-end optical correction and handheld close-up control. A f/2.8 maximum aperture, Optical SteadyShot tuned for macro shooting, a 17 elements in 13 groups design with two XA and two ED elements, an 11-blade circular diaphragm and Nano AR Coating II all point to a lens made for both resolution and smooth rendering.
